Underground rapper Maxon Margiela, of Orlando, Florida, died Sunday at 21.

How did Maxon Margiela die?

According to Somos Hermanos, family and peers in the music industry confirmed the rapper, born Mason Reyes, died by suicide, with his sister expressing grief over his passing on social media.

Men’s Journal spoke with the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, which verified his death but mentioned a cause wasn’t yet available.

Maxon Margiela was known for the raw emotion in his music, blending hip-hop, emo and lo-fi, which led to a strong fan base through his energetic live performances and his recent album, Filthy, per Somos Hermanos.
