Video footage of reality TV personality Porsha Williams speaking about the Sunday incident on a Delta Air Lines flight involving an older passenger seated next to her on a trip from Las Vegas to Atlanta has surfaced.
What happened between Williams and the 70-year-old passenger?
According to The Grio, the 44-year-old The Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared her side of the story in a surfaced video of both women recounting their version of what happened on the flight.
“So, the lady who was sitting next to me — I was on my phone,” Williams began explaining to officers. “And the volume was up on the phone, and she turned to me, out of nowhere, and she said, ‘So you’re gonna make me listen to that the whole flight?’ And I said, ‘Well, do you want to?’ And she said, ‘No.'”
She continued, “I said, ‘Well, there was a nicer way to say that.’ And she said, “B***h, you don’t tell me, b***h.”
A woman off-camera confirmed the altercation occurred while the plane was still on the ground and passengers were boarding. Williams continued sharing her story with officers, and other passengers approached her to ask if she was OK after witnessing the incident involving the 70-year-old woman.
Passengers who witnessed the incident defend Williams
One woman who was seated near Williams said she felt embarrassed by the older passenger’s behavior.
“I was there and I heard it was unreprehensible,” the passenger shared. “The woman got in your face and gave you the middle finger.”
“She started screaming,” Williams told the passenger. “I don’t know what — she’s claiming she’s gonna press charges and say I hit her. I’m like, ‘I did not hit you.'”
A man who was seated two rows back also chimmed in, stating that Williams “did not touch her.” The officers then located the older woman who was sitting in the gate’s waiting area.
‘I’m afraid she’s gonna have me killed’
When the officer asked her about what happened, her story differed from what Williams stated. She said Williams had boarded the flight last and spent 25 minutes scrolling through Instagram with her phone’s volume on “full blast” before she decided to say something, which then led to the fiery exchange.
“Then I said, ‘Am I going to have to listen to that the whole time?’ And she said, ‘Do you like it?’ And I said, ‘No.’ And she said, ‘Well, I don’t like the way you asked me.’ I said, ‘Don’t put this on me,'” the 70-year-old woman explained. “And the next thing I know, there was a fingernail so close to my eye that I thought I was going to be physically attacked. She had her — I don’t want to do it to you, sir; she had her hands in my face, screaming, calling me crazy.”
The woman then claimed that all the flight attendants were seated and prepared for takeoff, so they couldn’t intervene when she took her phone out to record the incident, and Williams allegedly knocked the phone out of her hand, causing it to fall into the aisle.
“That’s assault,” the woman added. “I’m 70 years old.” She concluded, “And here’s what I’m afraid of; I’m afraid she’s gonna have me killed.”
The FBI has launched an investigation into the incident
As Blavity reported, the FBI released a statement confirming that the agency had initiated a probe into the incident.
“FBI Atlanta is aware of an incident on a Delta flight on November 16th allegedly involving Porsha Williams and/or at least one other person. We are looking to see whether any federal charges may or may not apply,” a spokesperson for the agency said.
Williams was in Las Vegas for the weekend for BravoCon alongside her other RHOA castmates.
