On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Peloton has recalled more than 830,000 bikes due to fall and injury risk.

According to Health, the exercise equipment and media company is rolling back certain Peloton Original Bike+ products after it received several reports of the seat post breaking and detaching from the bike during use, resulting in two people reporting injuries from a fall.

Peloton is recalling Original Series Bike+ units with the model number ‘PL02’ and serial numbers starting with the letter ‘T’

Peloton is recalling its Original Series Bike+ units with the model number “PL02” and serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.” Bikes’ serial numbers are inside or behind the front fork or behind the flywheel.

The recalled bikes were sold between January 2020 and April 2025 at Peloton and Dick’s Sporting Goods stores around the country and online at onepeloton.com, ebay.com, amazon.com, and dickssportinggoods.com, retailing for around $2,495.

“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s senior vice president of global hardware operations and product safety, said in a statement shared via email with TechCrunch. “We are taking this opportunity to make replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike+ users and we encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned seat post as soon as possible.”

Peloton is offering free repairs and bike seats to customers with recalled bikes

Those who own a recalled Peloton bike should stop using it immediately and contact the company for a free repair. Peloton is also offering customers a free seat post that can be self-installed.

Customers with any questions can contact Peloton toll-free at 866-679-9129 or online through the company’s support website.

Peloton announced a new hardware lineup and an artificial intelligence system in October

The recall comes after Peloton has experienced a series of recent setbacks, including replacing its CEO and laying off hundreds of workers last year, TechCrunch reported. Post-pandemic sales have seen sharp declines — since reaching its peak in January 2021, Peloton’s stock has dropped over 90%.

In 2023, Peloton recalled around 2.2 million exercise bikes due to safety concerns after several reports of customer injuries.

In October, Peloton announced it had revamped its entire hardware lineup, as well as the launch of Peloton IQ, an AI and computer vision system that provides personalized support to users. Peloton’s new Cross Training Series now offers users five connected fitness devices, Cross Training Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+ and Row+, each with an advanced Swivel Screen that simplifies switching between cardio, strength, yoga, Pilates, barre and more.

Peloton IQ gives users the chance to get goal-based coaching based on their needs and fitness levels, as well as performance tracking, progress insights, and real-time feedback.
