Megan Thee Stallion was granted a five-year civil restraining order against Tory Lanez after delivering an emotional testimony before a Los Angeles judge on Thursday.
‘I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again‘
According to Billboard, Megan revealed in court that she fears for her safety after being shot by the Canadian rapper in 2020. The 29-year-old is also afraid that Lanez will “shoot her again” once he is released after serving his 10-year prison sentence.
“I’m scared that when he gets out of jail he’s going to still be upset with me,” Megan told Judge Richard Bloom during a livestream video conference. “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again and maybe this time I won’t make it. It just seems like I have to relive it every day. The person who shot me won’t let me forget it.”
Tory Lanez reportedly “terrorized” Megan from behind bars
The judge’s ruling comes after the Houston rapper’s lawyers warned that Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, had “terrorized her” from behind bars.
“Mr. Peterson’s attempts to retraumatize and revictimize Ms. Pete recognize no limits — indeed, they continue even while he is behind bars,” Megan’s lawyers wrote last month. “While Mr. Peterson distorts and recklessly disregards the truth in his desperate attempt to appeal his conviction, his false assertions have reignited a slew of negative, harmful, and defamatory comments directed to Ms. Pete.”
Bloom granted the restraining order, blocking Lanez from harassing Megan for the next five years. During the court hearing, he said the “Mamushi“ artist had shown a “credible threat of violence“ and other potential offenses that “seriously harasses the petitioner and serves no lawful purpose,“ per Billboard.
A “violent and dangerous animal“
Megan and her legal team filed for a restraining order against Lanez in December. In a 194-page document, she described the rapper as a “violent and dangerous criminal“ with an “established pattern of behavior [demonstrating] the reasons this civil harassment restraining order is necessary to protect Ms. Pete and her wellbeing,“ Blavity reported.
