The time has come for New York's Democrats to choose their next nominee for governor. Thursday, September 13 is primary day.
On Wednesday, Nicki Minaj endorsed New York's incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo on Twitter.
‼️‼️‼️New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James. They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls‼️‼️‼️

"They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls!" tweeted Minaj as she made clear her support for Gov. Cuomo, Gov. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and NY Attorney General candidate Leticia "Tish" James.
Cuomo is running against Cynthia Nixon, who has a more far more liberal platform.
Needless to say, folks weren't feeling Nicki's social media endorsement of Cuomo when Cynthia Nixon's more progressive campaign is sitting right there. Since she's here for Cuomo, some New York residents stood up to announce they aren't here for her.
LOL! Phew Chile… Nicki this is not it baby. https://t.co/LuDFNzpq53

I dont agree with this. Governor Cuomo is not good for New York

Hey, we all love you so much Nicki! But this was the wrong move! We need more progressive democrats like @CynthiaNixon and @JumaaneWilliams because the existing administration are literally not "shittin" so they need to "get off the pot!"

Some accused the Queen rapper of upholding the status quo:
queen of status quo politics

Others implored her to vote for Cynthia Nixon instead, who — as we've previously reported — has advocated for the legalization of marijuana and has spoken out against the criminalization gap between white drug users and users of color.
Vote for @CynthiaNixon !

On Thursday, New York can vote for single-payer health care.
For legalizing marijuana and ending mass incarceration.
For investing in schools, not jails.
Vote for a leader as progressive as our state. #CynthiaForNY

Another rapper, T.I., is down for Nixon, however. According to The Hill, T.I. endorsed the Democratic socialist candidate, who had his vote once he learned of her via a clip from her debate.
I have no idea who this brilliant lady is…But she’s invited to my next bbq/family gathering and if she’s running for anything…ANYTHING I SAY..She’s got my vote!!!Right on to the Righteous Decent White People out there, using their privilege to make a difference!!!#USorELSE✊???? pic.twitter.com/lZkV7K1cIe

Nixon was quick to thank Tip for his support and formally introduced herself to the southern rapper:
Thanks for the support, @Tip! BTW: My name is Cynthia, and I am going to be the next Governor of New York. Please encourage your friends out here in the Empire State to vote this Thursday, 9/13! https://t.co/jd5x6gQP5B
