Jordan Chiles helped UCLA secure its first win of the season with near-perfect scores during the season opener on Saturday.

The event marked Chiles’ first performance of her senior year at the university, and she debuted her new floor routine. The Olympian is fresh off the most recent season of Dancing with the Stars, where she made it to the finale.

Jordan Chiles recorded near-perfect scores on all four events

Chiles had a clean sweep, coming in first in the four events making up the Best of the West Quad at Alaska Airlines Arena on the University of Washington campus. She recorded an all-around score of 39.725, according to UCLA’s official athletics website

The gold medalist opened the season with her new floor routine, where she led the team with a score of 9.925. Chiles competed with a musical mashup of songs by Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder and more, according to Forbes

She then went on to the vault, where she performed a double Yurchenko vault and earned another 9.9+ score.

For her third event of the competition, Chiles moved to the bars and tied with Tonya Paulsson of the California Golden Bears. On the beams, Chiles then earned a score of 9.975.

The UCLA Bruins recorded their first win of the season

UCLA posted the opener’s highest team scores on three events. The Bruins recorded 49.150 on the vault, 49.525 on the balance beam and 49.075 on the floor exercise. They came in first with a total score of 196.975. 

California came in second place with a score of 196.000, Washington came in third with a score of 195.625 and Oregon State finished in fourth with a score of 196.550.

Next up, UCLA will compete against Oklahoma, Louisiana State University and Utah on Jan. 10 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in West Valley City, Utah. The competition will be available to watch live on ABC at 1 p.m. PT.
