The Family Plan 2, the sequel to Apple TV’s 2023 action-comedy The Family Plan, continues the story of Dan Morgan, a former elite government assassin trying to keep his past behind him while raising a suburban family.

According to the film’s official description, “it’s the holiday season and Dan (Mark Wahlberg) has planned the perfect vacation for his wife Jessica (Michelle Monaghan) and their kids to celebrate overseas—until a mysterious figure from his past (Kit Harington) shows up with unfinished business. An international game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Dan and his family battle, bicker, and bond their way through a series of bank heists, holiday hijinks, and car chases amid scenic European terrain.”

Reda Elazouar on working with Mark Wahlberg in ‘The Family Plan 2’

Reda Elazouar plays Omar, a new addition to the Morgan family dynamic. “I think in a line-up of the family, Omar does stick out a little bit,” Elazouar said. “He’s French-Moroccan. This is an American family, so it was nice to come and be someone different from the family. And yeah, to work with Mark was amazing. I have said this before, but growing up watching him and then being able to act opposite him and improvise with him and with everyone else as well, it was a pleasure.”

The film features returning stars Wahlberg, Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby. Elazouar, whose previous roles include the film Pirates and Netflix’s Sex Education, joins as the charismatic boyfriend of Colletti’s Nina, whose presence sparks tension—and unexpected bonding—with Wahlberg’s character, Dan.

Director Simon Cellan Jones on Reda Elazouar’s role as Omar in the film

“He was very, very funny. And I think one of my favorite things in the film is the relationship he has with Dan,” director Simon Cellan Jones said. “I’m a father as well, and I’m always going to be very suspicious of my daughter’s boyfriend, [like], ‘What do you want? What are you looking for here?’ And I thought that was really fun, that for a long time, Dan was very hostile to the idea of him, and then as the film evolves, they get closer and closer.”

The Family Plan 2 is now streaming on Apple TV.
