Love Jones stars Nia Long and Larenz Tate are headlining a new romantic drama for Netflix.
Sylvie’s Love director Eugene Ashe will direct from a script he co-wrote with This Is Us writer and producer Kay Oyegun.
The currently untitled film is inspired by Maxwell’s debut album, Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite.
However, the storyline is being kept close to the chest. If you are a fan of the album, your mind might be spinning with possibilities. Two singles from the album include “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” and “Sumthin’ Sumthin’.” Both songs are about freely giving and accepting love, so maybe the film will have the same easy-going feeling as these two songs.
Who is producing the film?
Tate and Long are executive producing with MACRO Film Studios’ James Lopez, Charles D. King and Poppy Hanks. Maxwell also executive produces with John D. Hammond.
Long and Tate are also starring in another upcoming film
Tate and Long can also be seen in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua. Michael is set for an April 24, 2026, release.
