Yahya Abdul Mateen II discovers his latent superpowers in the new trailer for Marvel Television’s Wonder Man on Disney+.
The upcoming Marvel television series stars Mateen as Simon, an actor who desperately wants to play the title role of a reboot film about one of his favorite fictional superheroes, Wonder Man.
But, as the trailer below shows, perhaps Simon is putting too much pressure on himself to land what he feels is the role of a lifetime. The pressure makes his own superpowers, such as enough super strength to break a concrete table, come to the forefront. That’s a problem, because the movie set is a no-superhuman zone, and once Simon’s powers are discovered, the government starts going after him.
Starring alongside Mateen is Ben Kingsley, who is reprising his Marvel role of Trevor Slattery, the actor who portrayed terrorist The Mandarin to hide the real Mandarin’s (Tony Leung) identity. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton helms the series.
Here’s more about Wonder Man:
The series follows aspiring Hollywood actor, Simon Williams, who is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns that legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film “Wonder Man.” These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.
When does ‘Wonder Man’ premiere on Disney+?
