The film follows a throughline similar to the documentary–a boxer who is down on his luck finds a new purpose with a youth boxing program. To be specific, the dramatic film will follow Holland’s character Walt Manigan, a former ex-convict who wants a new lease on life and a new start with his family, including “the love of his life,” Ketta (Wiley).

He soon finds his place in a boxing gym at a D.C. youth recreation center, but the center is about to be closed. Even still, Walt works with the youth boxing team’s coach, Slim (Pierce), and helps lead the team to the junior national boxing tournament. The prospect of joining the U.S. Junior Olympic Team eventually leads to best friends Quincey (Toussaint Francois Battiste) and Peanut (Anthony B. Jenkins) fighting for a coveted spot on the team.

Production on the film has finished, and it will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu soon.

Holland can also be seen right now in the film Love, Brooklyn, opposite Nicole Beharie, DeWanda Wise and Roy Wood, Jr. Love, Brooklyn is now streaming on demand.
