Walmart is warning shoppers about two popular items due to safety concerns first issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). According to Market Realist, the items—the Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stove and the Outdoor Master children’s and youth helmets—may lead to serious injury or, in some cases, death.
Walmart has recalled tens of thousands of compromised products
According to Newsweek, there have been 26 instances of the Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stove exploding, 16 of which resulted in second-degree burns. Walmart recalled 201,000 of these products, which are manufactured by China Window Industry Co., Ltd., in Taipei, Taiwan, with model number BG2247A1. The compromised stoves were sold in stores and online on Walmart’s website and Amazon. Prices ranged from $8 to $45.
“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority. The company has fully cooperated with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the manufacturer of the impacted product to remove it from our stores and notify consumers of the recall. Purchasers of the recalled product are advised to discontinue use and return it to their nearest store for a full refund,” a Walmart spokesperson told Newsweek.
Walmart has also recalled 24,300 of the Outdoor Master children’s and youth helmets, which did not comply with safety standards for bicycle helmets, Market Realist reported. The items, imported by Maysun Products, Inc. in Chino, California, also lack the positional stability and proper head protection required to keep users safe.
The recalled helmets include Model OM-TD BIKE and Model OM-KSKB. While there have not been any reported injuries regarding the helmets, Walmart is urging customers who purchased the affected products to return them for a full refund.
“The company has fully cooperated with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the manufacturer of the impacted product to remove it from our stores and notify consumers of the recall. Purchasers of the recalled product are advised to discontinue use and return it to their nearest store for a full refund,” a Walmart spokesperson reiterated to Newsweek.
They added that the helmets have not been in stores since February.
According to The U.S. Sun, the compromised items were sold on Walmart and Amazon online between June 2024 and February 2025. Prices ranged from $20 to $32. The OM-TD BIKE model is blue with black straps, padding, and buckle, and features a dinosaur print. The Model OM-KSKB is dark green with yellow straps, black padding, a buckle, and a plastic adjustment knob.
Return compromised items to a Walmart retail location or Outdoor Master
According to Newsweek, “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact Outdoor Master for instructions on how to register for a full refund.”
Regarding the recalled butane stoves, customers should stop using the items immediately and return the product to a Walmart retail location for a full refund.
