Another day, another racist rumor about Amara La Negra.

The Miami-born Dominican singer has been scrutinized for wearing her hair in an afro in past weeks. Now, the proud Afro-Latina has been accused of wearing blackface, because online trolls are reluctant to believe she is a black woman.

A recent incident in 2016 partly fueling the racists was when non-black Dominican beauty queen Geisha Montes de Oca mocked Amara while in blackface on the variety show “Aquí Se Habla Español.”

On Monday, Jan. 1, Amara addressed the racist rumors in an interview with The Shade Room and has vowed to “educate and inform people about Afro-Latinos” while on Love & Hip Hop: Miami. Defending her blackness isn't new for Amara.

When music producer Young Hollywood met with La Negra to talk about making a song together and helping her career evolve, he criticized her for not looking like other Latina entertainers. He wanted her to "look a little bit more Beyoncé and a little less Macy Gray." She did not back down from the ignorant statement. Instead, she said she was proud of who she is and how she wore her hair. Amara reminded him that “not all Latinas look like J.Lo or Sofía Vergara or Shakira, so where are the women that look like myself?”

And on Thursday, she had to do it again. This time she took to Instagram and spoke directly to trolls who continued to come for her. In the #throwbackThrusday post, she posted a video of her as a young girl in an entertainment showcase proving that she has always been 100 percent black.

Despite the outrageous charges against her blackness, Amara received a multi-album deal with Fast Life Entertainment Worldwide and BMG, showing trolls and critics alike that she ain't nothing to play with.
