Spotify Wrapped is one of the streaming service’s most-awaited features each year. The 2025 edition may be dropping soon as Spotify invites its users to update the app in anticipation of the release.
What is Spotify Wrapped?
The feature was first released in 2015 as “Spotify Year in Music.” It was rebranded as Wrapped a year later, according to USA Today. The feature showcases a user’s listening history over the past year and highlights top songs, artists and genres. It appears on the Spotify app as a pop-up once available.
“There’s nothing quite like the joy of looking back at what soundtracked your year,” Spotify shared in its 2024 press release. “Think of 2024 Spotify Wrapped as a celebration of the fans, artists, and creators who made this such an amazing year.”
Spotify starts recording data for Wrapped starting Jan. 1 and ends after Oct. 31, despite fan speculation that it stops on this date. The company has not disclosed when it will stop taking into account user data for Wrapped.
“We start at the beginning of January with all of your listening that begins right then at the beginning of the year,” Molly Holder, Spotify’s senior director of product for personalization, told Mashable in 2024. “It goes all the way through collecting data up until a few weeks before we launch the Wrapped product.”
When will Spotify Wrapped 2025 be released?
Similarly to previous years, the company has not shared an exact release date for Spotify Wrapped 2025. Yet, it recently invited users to update their app ahead of the drop.
“Get the updated app to experience 2025 Wrapped at its best,” Spotify stated on its website.
The company also added a QR code to download the latest version. In previous years, Spotify Wrapped has been released in late November or early December. In 2024, the feature dropped on Dec. 4. In 2023, it was on Nov. 29. In 2022, it was on Nov. 30.
