Florida rapper Poorstacy, born Carlito Milfort Jr., has died at 26.

What was Poorstacy’s cause of death?

The musician reportedly died early Saturday from an “incident” that occurred in Boca Raton, Florida, the Boca Raton Police Department confirmed in a statement to USA Today and People. TMZ was the first outlet to report the rapper’s death.

As of now, there are no further details about the cause and manner of Milfort Jr.’s death. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

His most recent Instagram post was in August, with three photos featuring himself and another with a young child. His fans left comments insinuating that Milfort Jr. may have died by suicide. However, there are no reports to support those claims.

Poorstacy had a medical emergency at a Boca Raton hotel

Authorities were called to a hotel on Saturday before Milfort Jr. was transported to a nearby hospital, according to Billboard.

A hotel worker told TMZ that the rapper had a medical emergency that morning and was the only one hospitalized. He reportedly checked into the hotel for 10 days with a woman and a toddler.

The rapper was an up-and-coming musician from Palm Beach, Florida, who blended emo, rap, punk and punk rap in his music, according to TMZ.

He also frequently collaborated with drummer, producer and songwriter Travis Barker on several songs, including 2020 tracks like “Choose Life” and “Nothing Left.” Barker paid tribute to Milfort Jr. in a post shared on his Instagram account, People reported.

“Rest in peace you’ll never be forgotten,” the Blink-182 drummer wrote on his Instagram Stories alongside a broken heart emoji and a video of the pair performing Milfort Jr.’s 2020 song “Hills Have Eyes.”

In another post, Barker posted their song “Choose Life.”

Milfort Jr. released his most recent song, “Nothing Belongs to You,” in July. He also worked on rapper and singer-songwriter Paris Shadows’ track “Last Time Around,” which was released in October.
