Super Bowl LIII is set to occur February 3 at the Mercedes Benz Dome in Atlanta, and you'd think the halftime show would be an homage to The A, right? Well, not according to several speculative reports.
According to Billboard, a trusted source revealed Los Angeles band Maroon 5 will headline halftime. Variety confirmed Billboard's reporting, citing two sources.
The NFL has not officially confirmed this report yet, but that didn't stop fans from being like, "Um … fix this. Now," because the game being in Atlanta seems to offer a perfect chance to showcase the city's legends. Many of whom actually live in the city.
In fact, some of them, like T.I. and Killer Mike, not only live in Atlanta, but actually work for the city.
Other ATL artists the NFL could have chosen include: Usher, Outkast, Future, Gucci Mane, Lil' Jon, 2 Chainz, Migos, Jeezy, Lil' Yachty, The-Dream, Rae Sremmurd, Ludacris, and … well, we could go on all day. Literally.
Twitter users wanted to know just what was going on, and had some germane suggestions of their own for the NFL:

I actually like Maroon 5 but we couldn’t get any hip-hop artists for a Super Bowl in Atlanta? pic.twitter.com/8zSCLn6IiC

When Billboard reached out to the league for comment, the NFL said it was keeping mum about the Maroon 5 rumors for now.
"It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans, but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show," the professional football league said in a statement.
So, this means they still have time to get it right. Maybe. Or, hey, maybe all of Atlanta's black artists refused to do the show in a show of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick?
