Rapper Lil Uzi Vert will now be identified with they/them pronouns. The “20 Min” rapper, who previously went by “he/him,” added the new pronouns in their Instagram bio on Sunday. According to Power 105.1, Lil Uzi made the change using Instagram’s pronoun labels feature, which allows people to add up to four pronoun in their bio. The social media platform recently added the feature as part of an effort to make Instagram more inclusive.
Lil Uzi came out with another surprise on Saturday when they dropped a new track, “Space Cadet”, on SoundCloud.
“I am a space cadet, the geek, that real. I am so high right now, I can’t even feel,” Lil Uzi raps on the track. “You get a hundred racks, complete that drill. I was broke before, don’t like how it felt.”

According to Hot New Hip Hop, Lil Uzi has also said fans can expect a new EP, Red & White, to soon be released ahead of their much-anticipated P!NK album.
Lil Uzi’s decision to change their pronoun has led to another contentious discussion on the internet as some social media users push back against people who refuse to accept non-binary identities.

As Blavity previously reported, rapper Slim Thug recently sat down with artist Big Freedia during an episode of College Hill: Celebrity Edition to talk about using the proper pronouns when addressing people of various genders.
“I never been able to kick it with somebody like you, so I need to know the proper pronouns,” the rapper said.
“I’m gender fluid. I don’t have a pronoun,” Big Freedia replied. “It’s a new age for me too with the pronoun stuff. With my homies in New Orleans who I kick it with who I grew up with, I’m their bro. To my girls, I’m they sista. To my kids, straight and gay, I’m their mom. My sister, my blood sister, I’m her brother. And when she wanna call me her sister, I’m her sister. It really don’t matter to me because I know who I am.”
