Jennifer Hudson shared a heartwarming family moment during the holiday season. The EGOT winner took to social media to show her fans what her son gifted her for Christmas. David Daniel Otunga Jr., who is 16 years old, gave his mother a musical gift celebrating her career.
Jennifer Hudson’s son covered one of her songs as a Christmas gift
For Christmas, David surprised Hudson with a recorded cover of “Find the Love,” one of her songs featured on her 2024 holiday album The Gift of Love, according to E! News.
“I didn’t want to sing with you because I had made you something,” he said in a video Hudson posted on her Instagram stage. “I’m gonna just let the video play.”
Hudson can be seen batting tissues against her face as she got emotional, while her boyfriend Common nodded along.
“Y’all done outdid yourselves now,” Hudson said. “Wow. I don’t know what to tell you.”
“I feel the love ! Out of the mouths of babes,” Hudson then captioned another Instagram post published on Friday. “This hit me in the depths of my heart that only he can reach . I truly received a Gift of Love!!!”

In November, Hudson took to social media to show her son and her inside a recording booth. They recorded a duet of Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.’s 2017 single “Best Part.” Hudson was seen offering David singing advice.
Hudson said that sharing this moment with her son was particularly meaningful.
“The best part of singing is singing with my son. He said mama let’s record one of my fav songs together,” she captioned the post. “And that last slide I had to have a lil fun with him Jennifer Hudson style with the freight train !! He said now mama u can’t be doing all of that! Lol all in fun”
