As promised, here’s the first trailer for the upcoming long-in-development remake/reimagining of the Broadway musical Annie, starring Quvenzhané Wallis as the title character, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, and Cameron Diaz, which Sony Pictures has set for a December 19, 2014 release.

Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Dorian Missick and Tracie Thoms round out the starring cast.

Filmed in New York City, under Will Gluck’s direction, the project hails from Will & Jada Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, in partnership with Jay-Z (who’s also working on the soundtrack). Gluck revised the script which was originally written by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna.

The film’s first poster debuted yesterday, with promises of its first trailer debuting “tomorrow,” Wednesday; well, it’s “tomorrow,” Wednesday, and the trailer has arrived.
