Apple TV+ has renewed the Octavia Spencer series, Truth Be Told, for season 2.
The show was originally designed as a limited series, which makes the renewal a surprising one. Spencer will return to star and executive produce the series.
Truth Be Told‘s first season also starred Aaron Paul, Lizzy Caplan, Elizabeth Perkins, Michael Beach, Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Ron Cephas Jones and Tami Roman. It is unknown if any of them will return for the second season.
The description of the first season: Truth Be Told follows Poppy Parnell (Spencer) as she is compelled to reopen the murder case that made her a national sensation and comes face to face with Warren Cave (Paul), the man she may have mistakenly helped to put behind bars. Her investigation navigates urgent concerns about privacy, media and race.
The first season received mostly negative reviews from critics, with a 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season of the show will show Spencer’s Poppy investigating another case.
