Do we know plot details of ‘Scary Movie 6’ yet?

Plot details about the film are still being kept secret, including whether Oteri and Elliott, who have appeared in previous Scary Movie films, will reprise their roles.

Rick Alvarez, who frequently collaborates with the Wayans, returns to help write the script with Marlon, Shawn and Keenan Ivory Wayans. Alvarez also produces. Miramax’s Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Lowey and Thom Zadra executive producing with Miramax and Paramount producing. Michael Tiddes directs.

The first stories about Scary Movie 6 came out as early as October 2024, with Keenan Ivory Wayans signed on to direct at the time. But more details about how and why the brothers were officially coming back to the Scary Movie franchise broke in January 2025 when the brothers reteamed with Miramax, now under new management.

Miramax had the rights to the Scary Movie property under the leadership of disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. Marlon Wayans told Club Shay Shay how the “crappy” deal took the film away from the Wayans family. Now, the family has a new deal with new Miramax head, Glickman.

What the Wayans Bros. initially said about returning

The brothers released a statement last October about working with Miramax again, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with [Miramax CEO] Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”
