Jay Kelly is now available to stream on Netflix, and fans are looking for an answer to the million-dollar question — is he a real person?
Following its limited theatrical release in November, the film has made its streaming debut with a star-studded cast led by George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson and more.
What is the film about?
According to a description on Netflix’s Tudum, “The new film from Academy Award nominee Noah Baumbach follows famous movie actor Jay Kelly (George Clooney) and his devoted manager Ron (Adam Sandler) as they embark on a whirlwind and unexpectedly profound journey through Europe. Along the way, both men are forced to confront the choices they’ve made, the relationships with their loved ones, and the legacies they’ll leave behind.”
“Even before I read it, I was interested because it’s Noah,” Clooney said about his immediate interest in being a part of the film, according to Tudum. “It’s very funny, and it’s very touching, and I thought it would be fun to do.”
“He’s coming to terms with the idea that maybe he hasn’t been such a great friend or father,” he continued. “He has just been really good at being a movie star.”
How old is George Clooney?
Unlike his character in the film, Clooney didn’t get his big break at a young age. In fact, the first acting gig that he became known for occurred at age 33 as one of the stars in the hit 1990s series ER.
Today, at age 64, Clooney has a variety of films under his belt, including movies like Wolf’s, If, Ticket to Paradise, Ocean’s 8 and countless others. The actor said he has no plans of retiring from the craft anytime soon.
“I don’t have to work, and that’s a good place to be,” he told USA Today. “I want to be able then to make sure that when I do it, it’s for the right reasons.”
