RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 is only two episodes in, but we’ve already seen one of the best lip-syncs of the season.
The second premiere episode featured Crystal Envy and Lexi Love lip-syncing to guest judge Doechii and JT’s “Alter Ego.” This was a lip sync for the win, so not only was the pressure off, but the queens got to show why they made it to the top.
Both queens gave it their all, but Love had the advantage. Not only was her bright and playful outfit already tailor-made for a fun and quirky Doechii song, but her energy also matched the song. With duck walks, expressiveness, and major splits, Love won the lip sync.
But let’s not count out Envy’s efforts in the lip sync. She also brought out all of her tricks and dips to show the other queens that she’s one of the lip-syncers to watch this season.
The stage isn’t the only place Love has been able to show her true self. When the full cast spoke with Blavity’s Shadow and Act ahead of the season, she talked about how the girls helped her get out of her shell very quickly.
“I was able to do so because of my amazing cast of 13 sisters. They were the ones that kept me real and to my authentic true self every second of the way,” she said. “I felt like no matter what, I was being reminded of real people in my real life, and I kind of associated really quickly off, so it was really easy for me to open up.”
