Boots Riley’s next project, I Love Boosters, has dropped a first look image for the film starring Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Demi Moore, Taylour Paige and Lakeith Stanfield.
As reported by World of Reel, the film is described as following “a ring of female shoplifters” called the Velvet Gang, and their M.O. is “‘boosting’ clothing items from department stores.” Their next target, the CEO of a big-time designer brand, has mopped an idea from the leader of the shoplifters, Corvette. Corvette now wants the CEO to pay, “sparking an unintended ‘revolution.'”
The first image shows Ackie, Paige and Palmer dressed in yellow while standing in a completely yellow room, gives the film a very artistic vibe. The nametags the actors are wearing also give a sense that they’re in an office or retail-type setting. There also appears to be a metal-framed board behind Ackie, like one you’d find in an office. For gamers, the entire image might give you a Stanley Parable feeling.
Who else stars in ‘I Love Boosters’
The film also stars Will Poutler, Poppy Liu and Eisa Gonzalez.
When does ‘I Love Boosters’ release?
A Neon production, I Love Boosters comes to theaters May 22.
The film was originally announced in 2024; as Blavity’s Shadow and Act reported at the time, this marks the second time Stanfield and Riley have worked together. The first being 2018’s Sorry to Bother You.
