Fraudulent body enhancement specialist Libby Adame, referred to as “Butt Lady” or “La Tia,” was sentenced to 15 years in prison following a recent judgment in her case regarding the death of actor Cindyana Santangelo.

As Blavity reported, the model and actor known for roles on Married with Children, ER, and CSI: Miami, died at age 58 in March as a result of a butt procedure she underwent at the hands of Adame. Shortly after the operation, which took place at her Malibu home, her health began to decline. Santangelo was taken to a nearby hospital after Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call, where she was later pronounced dead.

Santagelo died of silicone embolism

According to People, prosecutors shared that an autopsy revealed that complications from silicone oil led to a fatal embolism. Adame returned to court to be sentenced and was ordered to serve 15 years to life in prison during the sentencing on Tuesday. This judgment came nearly a month after Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Sam Ohta ruled that she must remain behind bars without bail after the jury’s verdict found her guilty in the death of Santangelo. He also refused to grant a new trial ahead of the sentencing date. Additionally, she was also found guilty of practicing medicine without a license.

Although the defense claimed Adame’s role was limited to consultation, not the procedure itself, prosecutors countered with text message exchanges between her and the victim that proved she carried out the procedure, per ABC7

Earlier conviction tied to 2019 silicone injection

This isn’t Adame’s first time being found guilty for the death of someone due to her faulty work practices, as reported by People. In a separate case, she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter last year for the same thing. In 2019, she conducted a silicone butt injection that killed Karissa Rajpaul, who was just 26 years old. Adame’s daughter, Alicia Galaz, was also held accountable and convicted for her involvement in Rajpaul’s death. Adame was sentenced to three years in state prison but was released due to the time she served leading up to her conviction and sentencing court date.
