Movie star Liam Neeson, known for his role in the Taken trilogy, made a startling admission in a recent interview.
On Monday, The Independent reported the Northern Ireland native shared his fantasy to avenge a rape that happened years ago while promoting his latest film.
Neeson explained that a Black man allegedly raped a female relative of his. Upon learning the race of the assailant, the actor said he immediately began searching for a "Black bastard" with a cosh (club) in hopes of killing him.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody. I’m ashamed to say that, and I did it for maybe a week – hoping some ‘Black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him," he said.
The 66-year-old shared the information in efforts to provide context to his Cold Pursuit character who is on the hunt for the gang responsible for killing his son.
Neeson revealed that he learned a lesson from his previous mindset and came to the understanding that the pursuit of could be never-ending.
“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that,” he shared. “And I’ve never admitted that, and I’m saying it to a journalist. God forbid.”
Angry fans reacted to the admission on Twitter:
Well, I've seen it all now. Liam Neeson admitted to going around trying to find a black person to kill because someone he was close to got raped by a black person, and the journalist spoke to a psychologist to help contextualise his racism and included it in the article? WILD.

The funniest thing about the Liam Neeson article is that with he still doesn’t realise what he was doing was racist lmao he just thinks revenge isn’t worth it. He still thinks killing any black person would be revenge for a specific black man raping his friend ????

Also, please understand the very *essence* of white privilege in Liam Neeson’s comments. He could openly talk about once wanting to kill black people without fear of reprisal. It was a “story” he shared. An anecdote during a press junket.
I’m just really sad tbh

Liam Neeson's response to a family member being raped was to walk around for a week with a crow bar so he could provoke any random Black person and commit a 'racist murder.'

Black People: “You know, we really like Liam Neeson.”
Liam Neeson: “Let me fuck that up right quick.”

Last year, Neeson came under fire for calling the rise of the #MeToo movement a "witch-hunt."
