Twitter is famous for its 140 character limit, however, talks of lengthening the character limit have been buzzing for some time now. Twitter is finally testing a 280 character limit with some accounts, and the reactions have been mixed.
The reasoning for the switch is so that people won't have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters, but isn't that the beauty of Twitter. One thing's for sure, the trolls are about to have a field day.
Here's how Twitter users reacted to the news:
literally my only talent was being able to think of tweets exactly 140 characters long. i don't know if I will be able to alter this to 280.

I didn’t get 280 characters so I have to be against it now. Those are the rules.

USERS: ''We want an edit button so we dont have delete tweets bc of typos'

.@realDonaldTrump has been wrecking America 140 characters at a time. Imagine what he could do with 280 now.

Dear Twitter, be careful what you wish for. #140Characters
#280Characters

Let’s just not even pretend like #280characters is a good idea, @Twitter.

The 280-character limit is a terrible idea. The whole beauty of Twitter is that it forces you to express your ideas concisely (1/47)

Twitter can't shorten my attention span for 8 years, then expect me to start paying attention to #280character tweets
