Patrick Beasley is a father and husband who passed away just three days before Christmas. His daughter, Asha Beasley tweeted Monday that a few weeks before his death, her father accidentally threw away her mother's favorite vintage Chicago Bears jersey.
Her father's mistake had devastated her mother. However, he had plans to make it up for Christmas.
"Last night, I found a new one hiding in his closet that he was going to give to her this morning," Asha Beasley's tweet read. "Merry Christmas Mommy."
So my dad accidentally threw away my mom’s favorite vintage @ChicagoBears jersey a few weeks ago. He passed away this past Friday. Last night, I found a new one hiding in his closet that he was going to give to her this morning. Merry Christmas Mommy. ???? pic.twitter.com/GG5avNFTBA

The heartwarming video has since gone viral and even gained a response from both the Chicago Bears as well as Jarrett Payton, Walter Payton's son.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Asha. We’re honored to be a small part of it. ????⬇️

Since then, people have been calling for the family to get Bears tickets as well as asking how they can help the family. However, the Beasley family simply ask that you donate to the scholarship endowed in their father's name.
So instead of free tickets, we are asking people to donate to the scholarship fund. My dad firmly believed in education, and some lucky college student some day will appreciate your contribution, and know his legacy. Here’s the link: https://t.co/wTohMwsh6L

"My dad was a pretty infamous college basketball player," she wrote. "So we decided to set up a scholarship in his name at his alma mater."
The fund is called the Patrick "Pat" Beasley Endowed Scholarship.
Best wishes to the family. We're glad that something so beautiful could come out of this.
