The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Oregon Ducks 41-21 during a Wednesday afternoon game in Pasadena, California. The event offered the Buckeyes the opportunity for redemption after a loss in October.

Ohio State quarterback Will Howard was at the center of Wednesday’s win. He completed 17 of 26 passing attempts for 319 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers, according to Athlon Sports. One of his opponents congratulated him on the team’s achievement in a heartfelt moment.

After the game, Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson waited for Howard to finish an interview before approaching him.

“I respect you, boy. Everything you have, bro, you deserve it. Go win it all for your team. I respect you. Keep leading them,” he told Howard.

Fans noted the interaction as an example of great sportsmanship between opponents.

“Class act Tez. All the best next season,” someone commented via X, formerly Twitter.

“Wonderful sportsmanship and spirit Tez. Thank you for sharing that great energy!” someone else wrote on X.

Some fans mentioned how they are looking forward to seeing Johnson play in the NFL, while others noted how heartfelt the interaction was to watch.

“Will be rooting for Tez in the NFL!” one fan wrote.

“These kinds of things get me in my feels. I’m a terrible loser and am just in awe of people with this much class and grace,” another person noted.

In October, Johnson caught 75 yards and a touchdown for Oregon, according to Athlon Sports. Wednesday marked his last game for the team. Over 25 games, he recorded 20 touchdown receptions and 2,048 receiving yards, per Sports Illustrated.

Ohio State will now move on to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they will square off against Texas on Jan. 10 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
