Tekashi 6ix9ine's antics have made him a target in prison, according to a report from TMZ.
Upon entering the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center on November 19, the New York rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was reportedly confronted by a gang of Crips. TMZ reports Tekashi may be a member of the 9 Trey Gangsta Bloods.
A tense showdown occurred in the center's intake area. One Crip member walked up to the rapper and "G-checked" him to make sure the 22-year-old was officially connected to the Bloods.
According to Hernandez's attorney, Lance Lazzaro, he told media his client "was being threatened in jail. However, he was not scared nor did he request being removed. The [Bureau of Prisons], acting upon these threats, removed him to a different facility to eliminate the threat."
Sources state the rapper was transferred to a new facility and requested to be in an area away from the Crips and Bloods.
Last week, the self-proclaimed "King of New York" pleaded not guilty to federal racketeering and firearms charges. NBC News reports the rapper was involved in the shooting of a bystander in Brooklyn and the gunpoint robbery of a rival of the 9 Trey Bloods. He has been denied bail and could spend up to life in prison for racketeering charges.
Tekashi's ex-manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, Jensel “Ish” Butler, Faheem “Crippy” Walter and Jamel “Mel Murda” Jones have all been charged in the April 3 robbery.
