“I didn’t know he was going to do a surprise like that,” Fevrius told NJ Advance Media.

Before the impromptu engagement, Fevrius and Joseph already had marriage plans set for sometime next year and a “planned engagement” at their Newark church on Jun 25th.

“He said he wanted to make me happy,” Fevrius said after the couple’s celebratory dinner.

Years ago, Fevrius told a friend that getting engaged at a graduation ceremony could be nice.

Being the messenger, Fevrius’s friend tipped off Joseph about the idea, which led to university officials coordinating with Joseph to make the proposal come to life.

“End of college 🎓, beginning of forever ❤️ ” – That has a nice ring to it! 💍
