On December 6, 2016 five dope young ladies of one of the most influential stations in Hip-Hop, Hot 97 began to transition their everyday "girl code" to form a sisterhood like no other called the Black Girl Podcast. Through their diverse backgrounds and passion for the culture, Rebecca “Bex” Francois, Sapphira Martin, Alysha Pamphile, Gia Peppers and Deanii “Scottie Beam” Scott took their organic thoughts on pop culture, and life experiences to develop a daily dosage of melanin magic to develop the Black Girl Podcast.

On the 21^st Anniversary of Waiting to Exhale, an African American ode to sisterhood, Bex, Sapphira, Alysha, Gia Peppers and Scottie Beam have became the modern day voices of the movie’s characters, Savannah, Bernadine, Gloria and Robin, discussing everything from relationships, life choices, pain and just simply good old “kiki” or “girl” talk. Instead of girl talk moments being over glasses of wine like the ladies of Waiting to Exhale, Black Girl Podcast allows the airwaves to be the “wine glass” that is filled with unapologetic “tea.”
