Louis Farrakhan has lost his Twitter verification following an inflammatory tweet about Jewish people.

Twitter quietly snatched Farrakhan’s blue check back after he called Jewish people “satanic” Wednesday, June 6, reports The San Francisco Gate.

The tweet also included a link to a May 27 sermon in which he referred to Judaism as a “system of tricks and lies” and accused Jews of using the media to corrupt non-Jews, according to Forward.

“The false Jew will lead you to filth and indecency. That’s who runs show business. That’s who runs the record industry. That’s who runs television,” said Farrakhan, who used Harvey Weinstein as an example. “Do you know that many of us who go to Hollywood seeking a chance have to submit to anal sex and all kind [sic] of debauchery [before] they give you a little part? It’s called the casting couch. See that’s Jewish power.”

Twitter hasn’t spoken out about Farrakhan, but the company has been removing verification checks from accounts that promote “hate speech” since November 2017. Previously, this policy mostly affected right-wing accounts.

“Verification has long been perceived as an endorsement. We gave verified accounts visual prominence on the service which deepened this perception,” said Twitter at the time. “This perception became worse when we opened up verification for public submissions and verified people who we in no way endorse.”

Farrakhan is routinely criticized for being anti-Semitic, and Twitter has caught flack for letting him keep his status. Twitter has not said anything about this latest development.
