Marvel’s relationship with hip-hop, for many of us, has always been present. It’s the most culturally influential music of the generation. So, it makes sense that hip-hop would permeate all mediums of art eventually. Thus, the Marvel hip-hop variant cover was born. They’ve released a fair share of them. And several of these variants have become my favorite comic book covers of all time. And now, Marvel is back at it again.

These are just a few of the bangers you can expect from this group of hip-hop variant covers. Axel Alonso, Marvel’s editor-in-chief, says, “Hip-hop is the backbeat for any number of people who are writing, drawing and editing these comic books…It’s about two creative art forms shouting out to each other.”

Along with the release of these comics individually, you can also expect the collection in a hardcover book. It’s coming this October, and the foreword is written by the man himself, Ta-Nehisi Coates. Fam, it’s lit.

Black Panther #1 and Mosaic #1 will hit shelves October 12th. Doctor Strange #1 will get here earlier on September 28.
