A Maryland barber is offering free haircuts to furloughed workers affected by the government shutdown on his mobile barbershop. According to NBC 4, Emmanuel Onyeali, known as The Shape-Up King, is the creator of the first mobile barbershop in the nation's capital. On Saturday night, the entrepreneur offered free haircuts to numerous Maryland federal employees.

"It makes me feel bad," Onyeali said. "It's terrible and what it does is makes me look at what are the God-given talents that I can contribute to the situation."

The Shape-Up King travels between Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia in his LED-lit promotional vehicle.

Onyeali posted a video on Twitter thanking the news channel for its coverage and reminding everyone to stick together during this time.

"Right now all we have to do is stick together if we just join hands with our talents we don't even need the government right now until they can work it out," he shared with News4. "It's not about where you stand on this issue right now it's about buying time right now."

Blavity previously reported Black employees are bearing most of the burden caused by the shutdown making up 18 percent of the federal workforce yet only 12 percent of the U.S. population. Workers were supposed to be paid earlier in the month, but 800,000 federal workers are without pay due to continued negotiations over funding President Trump's border wall.
