The live-in protest lasted a short four days and three nights before Jackson’s employer, Arcadis, caught on to his videos and asked him to take them down.

In a recent TikTok video, Jackson said he was fired over his refusal to remove his videos and was not fired over living in the office.

“I wish they approached the TikToks differently and maybe had a conversation with me about whether there was something more serious going on in terms of money. But do I understand their response? 100%,” Jackson told Insider. “take the opportunity to get away from the corporate world” for a while.

“I’ve gotten so many views now, so maybe I can take that and work on building my brand. I can always find another job if that doesn’t work out,” he said.

Jackson believes he kept his protest to himself; he still would be living in the cubicle.

“Honestly though, if I hadn’t posted the videos on TikTok, I think I could have lived in the office for at least six months with no issue,” he said.

Jackson’s employer, Arcadis, did not have much to say in regards to Jackson’s living arrangements but did tell Insider, “Due to privacy concerns relating to personnel information, the company is not at liberty to disclose any matters regarding current or former employees without express employee permission.”

Jackson decided to move into his office on Monday after hitting a point in his life where student loans and rent put him in a hard place financially.

His rent went from $1,300 a month to $1,500 a month, he explained in his TikTok video, making it difficult for Jackson to live within his means.

According to Insider, Seattle’s average rent for a one-bedroom apartment escalates 27% yearly.

Jackson plans to hop around and visit friends until he’s ready for the corporate world.
