Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), who has already announced his intention to run for president in 2020, stopped by the Ellen Show last week and teased the possibility of a White House wedding for him and his now girlfriend actress Rosario Dawson.

The pair had been linked together since Booker stated in an appearance on the Breakfast Club that he has a “boo.”

“She’s just an incredible human being,” Booker told Ellen DeGeneres about Dawson. “She’s a deeply soulful person and has taught me a lot of lessons about love already, and that sometimes you show the greatest strength when you make yourself vulnerable.”

The conversation then turned to the possibility of Booker and Dawson entering the white house without tying the knot.

“I mean, if you go in single and have a wedding in the White House — I mean, we would watch,” DeGeneres said. “That would be like our royal wedding — that’d be great!”

Booker did jokingly accept the offer, but the idea of an unmarried president is something America hasn't faced in a long time. If elected, Booker would be the first unmarried president since James Buchanan was elected in 1856.

During a CNN Town Hall Booker shared that he met the politically active actress at a political fundraiser for 2018 Maryland gubernatorial candidate Ben Jealous.

“She didn’t give me the time of day,” he told the crowd at the time.

“So we met again, and I had one of those really awkward experiences, I’m a United States senator, and I had to get up the courage to walk up to her and ask her for her phone number. And this doesn’t make me nervous,” Booker said to the crowd, “but that made me nervous.”
