Rapper Roddy Ricch is accusing a California-based YouTuber of attempting to extort him for $50,000 after his Grammy Award was discovered in an abandoned storage unit.
In 2020, Roddy Ricch won his first Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Racks In The Middle,” which is a collaboration between him, Hit-Boy and the late Nipsey Hussle.
Prieto Hunters, a YouTuber known for finding random gems inside abandoned storage units, found the Grammy in a unit he purchased for $280. After finding the Grammy, Hunters allegedly requested $50,000 and an Audemars Piguet watch from Ricch for its return, Complex reported.
On Monday, Ricch went on his Instagram to give his account of the situation. He explained how the Grammy was placed in a storage unit while he was traveling. He added that the storage was mismanaged due to his assistant getting into an accident.

While Ricch initially offered Hunters $10,000 for the Grammy, Hunters allegedly requested more money.
“First he asked me for an AP, then he asked me for $50,000,” Ricch said. “It was more so about a n****a trying to get clout off of it or a n****a trying to extort me for $50,000.”
Ultimately, Hunters met with Ricch’s assistant to set up an exchange at a police station in LA. In Ricch’s video, he stated that Hunters arrived at the police station for the exchange with “two cops and three n****s with cameras.”
Hunters claims that Ricch and his team threatened him, which Ricch denies.
