Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) made her TikTok debut by adding a unique flair to the #BussItChallenge. Instead of doing the typical #BussItChallenge, where women do a switch from their at-home aesthetic to club attire, Omar decided to do things a bit differently.
“It’s official. Taking on TikTok challenges,” she wrote on Twitter. “What else should I tackle here, I’m new to this and mostly trolling my kids.”
The 38-year-old has two daughters, Isra and Ilwad and a son, Adnan, with her husband Ahmed Hirsi.

She rose from her couch in an olive green beanie, Mike Tyson crewneck and sweatpants as a clip from Nelly's "Hot In Here" played. But rather than proceed to Erica Banks’ viral song, Omar busted down into traditional prayer garments.
In her nearly 500 comments on Twitter, folks were heavily amused by Omar's authentic angle and championed her embracing her Black Muslim identity.

Omar was officially elected as the first Somali-American Congress member in the United States in 2018 and began serving in January 2019. She is also the first woman of color to ever represent Minnesota in Congress.
