Social media and the internet at large have not been able to calm down following the unexpected news that Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo were arrested. The two face accusations of insurance fraud, false statements to a police officer and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. As a couple who has built and empire and prides themselves on their poise, the revelation was most certainly out of left field.
When it comes to Real Housewives stars facing legal battles, the Osefo’s are most certainly not alone. And many housewives have been able to bounce back, even when legal adversity threatened to keep them down.
Wendy Osefo

The latest to join the ranks, Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo were arrested in October 2025 and booked on 16 fraud-related charges. Those include insurance fraud, conspiracy, and false statements. The charges claim they misrepresented a burglary that allegedly occurred in April 2024. They reported about $450,000 in stolen items, though investigators claim the couple returned some of those items before the burglary. Wendy was also allegedly spotted wearing one of the reportedly “stolen” pieces after the burglary. When authorities searched their home, they found 15 items that matched the reported list. The case is currently unresolved and the couple has pledged to defend themselves in court. Though the internet has had quite the reaction, the RHOP stars are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and can easily make it out of this scandal even stronger than before.
Karen Huger

Wendy Osefo’s RHOP co-star Karen Huger had quite the fall from grace, after the Grand Dame was sentenced to one year in jail and five years probation for her fourth DUI offense. This was not her only run in with law. In 2017, reports surfaced that she and her husband Ray Huger owed the IRS approximately $1.5 million in back taxes, and his company allegedly owed an additional $3 million.
Her bounce back has been inspiring. Huger only served six months in prison and was released early on September 2. She and her husband Ray are also still going strong, putting on a united front and proving that scandal cannot dismantle true love.
Jen Shah

No one did a legal scandal quite like RHOSLC’s Jen Shah did. In 2021, Shah was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection to a telemarketing scheme. The scheme allegedly defrauded hundreds of people, many of them elderly.
Though she was at first very adamant about her innocence, Shah eventually pleading guilty. Doing so helped reduce her prison sentence from 6.5 years to about 5.5 years. In 2024, Jen was transferred to a halfway house, and she’s since expressed excitement about rebuilding her life post-prison. Fans are excited to welcome her back with open arms, and her family has confirmed that she remains in high spirits.
Luann de Lesseps

One of the most important names to emerge from RHONY, Luann de Lesseps was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, for disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest with violence, and battery on an officer in December 2017. While it may sound like a major setback, the incident ended up catapulting her career.
Lesseps accepted a plea deal and went on to complete community service, pay a fine, and attend court-ordered rehab. This helped her evolve and grow as a woman, and the countess used the experience to pivot into sobriety advocacy while kicking off her cabaret career.
Porsha Williams

It seems like a mug shot is a housewife’s favorite accessory. RHOA star Porsha Williams was arrested for driving 78 mph in a 55 zone with a suspended license. She advocated for grace, sharing via social media “I was headed to visit my grandfather who is very ill with cancer in the hospital, and I was pulled over. I was wrong for speeding absolutely and apologize for putting anyone at risk. I tried to explain the situation to the officer and show him that all my paperwork was in order, but he refused. Handcuffs are not comfortable or a good look for anyone. I was released, I have my license, my car, and my freedom.”
However, this wasn’t the first time Williams found herself on the wrong side of the law. She was arrested and released in April for attacking co-star Kenya Moore during a reunion taping of their show. The incident led to her being demoted from full-time housewife status to “part-time” recurring status. She has since climbed back up the ranks and solidified herself as one of RHOA’s most iconic housewives.
Teresa Guidice

In 2013, RHONJ star Teresa Giudice and her then-husband Joe Giudice were indicted on multiple federal charges, including mail fraud, wire fraud, and bankruptcy fraud. Though the couple initially pled not guilty, they later went on to give guilty pleas in order to reduce their sentences.
Career-wise, this was a major boost for Guidice. She served 11 months in federal prison in 2015, while her husband served a longer sentence and was eventually deported to Italy. She later returned to RHONJ post-release and successfully rebuilt her public image, making it a point to speak candidly about the lessons she learned. Her vulnerability and accompanying resilience helped solidify her as one of Bravo’s most enduring stars.
