At least 10 people were injured in a mass shooting outside of a nightclub in Queens, New York, on Wednesday night, according to the New York Police Department.

Police confirm victims are expected to survive

The group was standing outside Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, and waiting to enter a private event when three to four gunmen opened fire into the crowd, injuring six women and four men.

The victims, aged 16 to 20, were transported to local hospitals for their injuries and are expected to survive, the NYPD said during a press conference early Thursday morning, NBC News New York and the New York Post reported.

Was the shooting an act of terrorism?

Police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related but have ruled out terrorism as a factor.

According to investigators, police received multiple calls just after 11 p.m. about a shooting at the club, per NBC News. Around 90 people were inside the venue during the event, while 15 others, including the victims, were waiting outside to enter.

Authorities said the suspects, three to four men in their teens to early 20s, walked up to the group and fired about 30 shots, striking 10 of the people standing outside the establishment.
