Well, it looks like they made up for it, tenfold, because the 2018 Sexiest Man Alive is none other than Idris Elba! Elba is the 33rd person to make the highly coveted list of males. 

“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?'” Elba told People upon hearing his sexy new title. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”

According to the New York Daily News, the announcement was first made on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and Elba gave his live reaction via satellite from London noting, "My mom is going to be very, very proud."

"I'm honored and thankful," Elba posted on Twitter before reminding everyone to keep their minds on the primary significance of Tuesday. "What's even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!"
