Award winners for The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Calabar, Cross River State (Nigeria), which ran from November 10th to 17th, follow below.
With its Inagural edition in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, The Africa International Film festival was founded in 2010 by Ms Chioma Ude, with its vision being to raise awareness of African Cinema, its vast potential and the tremendous socio-economic impact it has not only on African economies but other developing economies as well.
AFRIFF also aims to re-establish Africa’s significance as the original birth home of civilization and indeed the last frontier for unique film stories and content.
The list of award winners, several which should be familiar to you, follow below:
Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s Of Good Report took home the Best Feature Film prize worth $6,000.
Best Director – Roberta Durrant for Felix
Best Film Screenplay – iNumber Number – Donovan Marsh
Best Actor – Desmond Elliot (Lies Men Tell)
Best Actress – Uche Jombo (Lies Men Tell)
Special Jury Mention – Rita Dominic and Omoni Oboli
Best Student Film – Sodiq by Adeyemi Michael
Best Short Film – Adamt by Zalem Worldmariam
Special Jury Mention – Beleh by Eka Christa Assam
Special Mention – Africa Shafted
Best Documentary – The Virgin, the Copts and Me
Jury Special Prize – Virgin Margarida by Licinio Azevedo
