Cardi B is reveling in her Billboard number one single success, but it looks like there’s some drama afoot.

TMZ recently reported that Cardi B’s claimed that she was placed in a chokehold by an NYPD officer during an incident involving the "Bodak Yellow" rapper, her cousin and another man.

“[T]he officer, who Cardi says was white, grabbed her with his arms around her neck and pinned her against the Bentley,” TMZ’s reported.

The source for this claim was Cardi B herself, who tweeted, then deleted, the accusation. TMZ also reported that things eventually de-escalated, with the cop leaving the scene “without taking a report or issuing any citations.”

Cardi B spoke on the incident and the way the NYPD officer handled everything during Miami’s 99 Jamz.

“There are two men that are about to square up, but you're so p*ssy you won't even hold back the men, you're gonna put the female in a chokehold,” she said. “What bothered me the most is that yes, the police have been calling me, NYPD [has] been calling me, they didn’t want me to talk about it. They went to my family’s house. And I don’t really want to make a statement because I’ve never talked to [Precinct] 12 … are they even going to do anything about it? Most likely not.”

“We have looked into Cardi B’s allegations, which allegedly happened around the launch of her new album. There is no indication that this ever occurred. We do not believe it has any merit. But if she or anyone else has any information about this allegation, we encourage them to come forward,” the NYPD Press Office’s Lieutenant John Grimpel said in a statement obtained by Teen Vogue.

Despite this statement, Cardi B remains firm that what she said happened, happened. “They’re f*cking” liars,” she exclaimed.
