A third grader channeling Michelle Obama for a class project received a memorable surprise on Wednesday. After her mom, Audrey Dow, tweeted a picture of her daughter standing in front of a poster featuring Obama’s name, the former first lady herself responded to the tweet.
Dow shared a picture of her daughter, Alexandra, on Twitter, explaining that she was inspired by Obama’s efforts to motivate kids to go to college. The 9-year-old also loves that Obama looks like her, Dow added.
Today my 9 year old was @MichelleObama for her 3rd grade Open House project. She was inspired by her work to make sure more kids go to college & #ReachHigher . She loves that Mrs Obama is brown & has hair like hers #ISawMyself

Alexandra's poster featured photos of Obama at different stages of her life, including one of the former first lady at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The adorable 9-year-old struck a similar pose to Obama's at the Convention in a blue dress.
Clearly, Alexandra made Obama's day.
The former first lady responded to Dow's tweet giving the 9-year-old an "A+."
This just made my day. I may not be a 3rd grade teacher, but this gets an A+ in my book! https://t.co/wBTzbyG8zr

Dow responded to the former first lady, tweeting that her daughter was "over the moon."
Alexandra is beyond over the moon that u would take the time to reply to her! She can't wait to tell her classmates tomorrow. Thank u 4 inspiring her & 4 knowing how much a reply would mean. She got so teary eyed at dinner when we showed her your tweet. She makes us all proud!

We're over the moon for you, Alexandra! This is why representation matters.
