Actor Jesse Williams is catching flack for his behavior as he navigates his divorce from estranged wife Aryn Drake-Lee.
The Grey’s Anatomy star wants a judge to deny a motion from Drake-Lee requesting $200,000 for legal fees and her use of a forensic accountant to prepare for their divorce trial. She also wanted a $27K increase in child support, according to People. He cited the amount he pays in child and spousal support and claims his ex has avoided seeking employment. Williams also claims he has already contributed $270K toward Drake-Lee’s legal fees.
“Aryn has been able to avoid seeking meaningful employment, preferring instead to comfortably live off her substantial support,” reads court documents acquired by The Blast.
Williams believes the court should teach Drake-Lee “she too is responsible to pay her attorneys’ fees and that this is not a free ride.”
(OUCH)
He believes his ex will try to garner sympathy during an upcoming divorce trial.
“Aryn will likely claim she is losing money on her businesses yet even assuming this true, Jesse should not be prejudiced as a result of Aryn’s poor investment choices,” reads the documents.

Williams’ seeming vitriol toward Drake-Lee has some people throwing him the side-eye.

I'm still very VERY salty about Jesse Williams saying the world needed to do better by Black women while cheating on and refusing to pay child support to the Black woman who took care of his ass for years. https://t.co/EY5eQCqdtG

But after his [now-ex] wife left her comfy job in NY, moved across the US to support his acting career, was the breadwinner til Grey's put him on, then stayed home to raise their kids – just to get cheated on, left, & now have her ex try to be stingy & publicly shame her. LOL

Jesse Williams hopped on that BET Awards stage and gave a TedTalk on how amazing Black women are and now is out here calling his Black ex-wife/mother of his children a leech. Yikes.

Moral of the story: As a woman, have your own shit and don’t depend solely on any man. ( I still love me some Jesse Williams but he’s WRONG for this.) https://t.co/JOOgGmyjea

Jesse Williams is trash and I hope his kids see the shit he’s put their mother through. That woman has said nothing about him, she could, hell I know people would pay her for a tell all. But she’s kept it cute. While he drags her name in the mud every time he loses in court.

In 2017, an anonymous source told Page Six that Lee, a former teacher, was the one bringing the home the bacon in the relationship, and she "sacrificed her life" for him.
The former couple married in 2012, and Williams filed for divorce in 2017. They share joint legal and physical custody of their son and daughter. Williams currently pays $50K each for child and spousal support, based on his monthly income of $521,000.
The case will go to trial later this year.
