In the wake of conservative talking head Charlie Kirk being killed, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., criticized Republican lawmakers and other conservative figures who blamed the left for allegedly inciting the violence that led to the shooting on Wednesday at a Utah university campus.

What did Omar say about Republican leaders?

Speaking to Mehdi Hasan on his Zeteo platform, Omar criticized right-leaning voices, including Trump, about the rhetoric they have spread about particular groups of people in this country, according to The Hill.

“You have people like Nancy Mace, who constantly harass, you know, people that she finds inferior and wants them not to exist in this country or ever,” Omar said.

She continued, “And, you know, you have people like Trump, who has incited violence against people like me. And so, you know, these people are full of s**t, and it’s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.”

‘It was really mortifying’

In addition to condemning Republican remarks, the Minnesota lawmaker also spoke out about the video of Kirk’s killing that has circulated on social media, calling it “really mortifying.”

“It was really mortifying to hear the news, to see the video. You know, all I could think about was his wife, his children — that image is going to live forever,” she told Hasan.

The controversial right-wing Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said Thursday that she would begin to carry a gun wherever she goes following the shooting of Kirk, Khon2 reported.

“I’ll start carrying again when I’m back home, and when I’m allowed to carry where it’s reciprocal. In other states, I will have a firearm on my person all the time, and I will have security,” Mace told reporters Thursday outside the Capitol, per the outlet.

Mace also spoke about the Capitol Police allocating $15 million in funds to protect every lawmaker, which amounts to $5,000 per person. However, she said that the amount of money was not enough to cover security.

“For those here in Congress who are very vocal and are more well known than others, $5,000 is not much. I’m not personally rich, so we are taking different safety precautions,” Mace said.
