After being in the industry for over a decade, Hit-Boy has become one of modern hip-hop’s top producers. However, things haven’t always been roses and sunshine. There was once a time when he fell into dire straits and could not pay rent for a house he has since purchased.
On Monday, the King’s Disease producer shared on Instagram he’s building his “dream estate” in Beverly Hills, California, to give his testimony and reflect on how far he’s come since his former stint of adversity.
Hit-Boy captioned his post, which includes video footage of a meeting discussing the property, “some of y’all might remember when i was on akademiks podcast and talked about falling on hard times back around 2017. crzy how life works i just brought the property in beverly hills i was renting then and couldn’t afford at the time and now i’m designing my dream estate on it. 🙏🏾 stay focused stay motivated keep going.”

During an appearance on DJ Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast in 2022, the Grammy Award-winning producer spoke about how he lost all of his money following Jay-Z and Kanye West’s joint smash hit “N***as in Paris” and discussed the subsequent hardships that came with that, leading him to hit rock bottom.
He continued, “I got a big-ass mansion with five studios in it; all my artists living with me. It was just a recipe for disaster. But that’s what n***as come from. N***as come from having nothing, so when you come up, you wanna put your homies on; you wanna have them opportunities to provide, but that s**t don’t always work out how you think it’s gonna work out.”
Hit-Boy further explained that within five years, “I was laying on my ground with zero dollars in my account after having millions, balled up in a fetus, crying.” He was alone and admitted to “investing in the homies.”
“I was putting up money for everybody around me,” he confessed.
But working with Nas and others has put him back on solid ground. The hitmaker said he had more money now than ever and later added, “Just to be in this position, God really made this s**t happen for me.”
