Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was sentenced to 50 months in prison for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, may be released on May 8, 2028.
According to CNN, public records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons revealed the latest update on Combs, who received his sentence in July after a split verdict. The hip-hop mogul avoided a harsher sentence when the jury acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
Combs has been serving time at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since he was arrested in September 2024. As a result, the past 13 months count toward the time Combs served as part of his sentence, Variety reported. Combs may also have his sentence reduced for good behavior.
Diddy’s sex trafficking trial
During Combs’ trial in May, 34 witnesses took the stand and accused him of multiple crimes. The accusations included drug distribution, as well as physical abuse to sexual assault.
The jury also reviewed a 2016 video, which showed Combs physically abusing ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a hotel.
However, Combs’ six children spoke up in defense of their father at the trial. Although Combs’ loved ones asked the court to give their father “grace,” Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a nearly four-year sentence.
The judge said “there is a light at the end of the tunnel” for Combs, and he should dedicate his future to helping survivors of domestic violence.
“The same power you used to hurt women, you can use to help them,” Judge Subramanian said, per Variety. “I’m counting on you to make the most of your second chance.”
Did Diddy’s lawyers ask for a pardon from Trump?
In an interview with Variety, Combs’ lead counsel Marc Agnifilo remained optimistic about his client’s future. Agnifilo said Combs hopes to “make something special out of his life,” and he still wants to make music “way down the road.”
Combs’ lawyers have also confirmed that he asked for a pardon from President Donald Trump. However, Trump hasn’t given any indication of granting their request.
