Gout Gout, the 16-year-old track star from Australia, made history at the All-Schools Athletics Championships in his home country. As he was running in the heats on Thursday, Gout finished the 100-meter race with a time of 10.04 seconds, which is the fourth-fastest time ever recorded for a runner of any age, per CNN. However, Gout’s time is not officially recorded in the history books because it was wind-assisted, the outlet reported.

Gout came back to compete in the final on Friday and finished in 10.17. That mark is the sixth-fastest time for a runner under the age of 18. Gout’s previous personal record was 10.29, per People.
As both People and CNN report, Gout has drawn strong comparisons in recent years to Usain Bolt.
Speaking to Athletics Australia after his race, Gout said he has been “chasing this national record for a while now.”
“In the heat, I thought I got it, but it was a crazy tailwind, so I just did the same thing and got the job done,” the rising star told the publication.
Gout is not yet done competing at the All-Schools Athletics Championships in Queensland. He plans to race in the 200-meter sprint on Saturday.
Gout is now preparing for a busy 2025. In January, he plans to train with U.S. star Noah Lyles, the teenage sensation told Athletics Australia. Gout is also focused on competing at the Tokyo World Championships during the upcoming year while still focusing on school.
“Hopefully, we can qualify for the Tokyo World Championships…If not, I’ll just finish my school in Year 12,” he said.
