The Hunting Wives are coming back for a second season, Netflix confirmed recently.
Based on the novel by May Cobb, the series will return exclusively as a Netflix original with the original cast reprising their roles. Whereas Season 1 was based on the novel, Season 2 will be a continuation of the story thanks to an original script. Season 1 was intended for Starz before Starz and Lionsgate split. After this, the show’s studio home sold the series to Netflix.

The Hunting Wives is a murder mystery about a Texan socialite clique who become embroiled in death and societal intrigue. The second season involves Sophie (Brittany Snow) and Margo (Malin Akerman) are no longer friends, but their feud doesn’t last for long.

According to the official logline, “At the start of Season 2, Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”
The series also stars Jamie Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier.
Showrunner, writer and EP Rebecca Cutter said in a statement, “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again, and I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”
The series has led to an increase in the book’s popularity
The Hunting Wives‘ first season spent five weeks in the global English Top 10 TV list on Netflix, earning over 20 million views despite only being available in the US.
The book also had a dramatic increase in popularity. Berkley EVP and publisher Christine Ball said that the 2021 book “[has] gone back to press twice on the trade paperback and saw a +5,000% increase across all formats in the same one-week period year over year.
